A Word from the President:
Julie Collins
It is indeed an honor for me to serve as President of the Oklahoma Reading Association. Literacy is a critical piece of becoming a participating citizen in our society. The Oklahoma Reading Association supports teachers at all levels across our state by serving as the state affiliate of the International Reading Association, promoting quality professional development and community service.
Goals for the 2008-2009 year:
To encourage membership in the Oklahoma Reading Association and the International Reading Association.
To support and participate in the programs and policies of the International Reading Association.
To review and update the bylaws and policies of the Oklahoma Reading Association as necessary.
To encourage participation of local councils at the state level.
To continue to make Oklahoma Reading Association information available to members through publications and the website.
To provide professional development through our annual state conference and planning for the Southwest Regional, February 2010.
To collaborate with the State Department of Education to promote literacy and quality professional development.
